History

The Technical Implementation Unit for Occupational Safety, Health, and Environment (UPT K3L) at Diponegoro University is part of the university’s commitment to creating a safe, healthy, and sustainable campus. Based on Rector’s Regulation Number 6 of 2021 concerning the Organizational Work Procedures of Elements Under the Rector of Diponegoro University, the UPT K3L was established as a non-academic support unit that assists the duties and functions of the Vice Rector for Human Resources in the areas of occupational safety, health, and the environment.

In the history of the UPT K3L at Diponegoro University, the existence of the Integrated Waste Processing Facility (TPST) has been a significant milestone in waste management on campus. The UNDIP TPST was established in 2015 and began operating as a final disposal site for all waste produced throughout the UNDIP area, particularly in the Tembalang area. Between 2015 and 2021, the waste remained poorly managed and simply ended up in landfill. Then, in 2021, based on the Rector’s Decree and Regulation, the UNDIP K3L Unit (UPT K3L) was requested to manage the TPST (wasteland and landfill) to become a more suitable location for implementing the 3R principles—Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle—on a campus-wide basis.

Since the establishment of both the UPT K3L and TPST UNDIP, various programs related to occupational safety and health and the environment have been developed and implemented. These programs include training, outreach, educational visits, and collaborations. Furthermore, the UPT K3L is also active in processing organic waste from the TPST into compost and recycling inorganic waste into other products.

Through these various programs, the UPT K3L UNDIP consistently strives to deepen its role in supporting UNDIP’s vision as a dignified and beneficial university.
